Using social media in job hunting

On Monday 16th December Prospects in the City held a learning event in conjunction with Square Mile Jobs, at the largest livery hall in London, Plaisterers' Hall.

The session focused on social media in job hunting; how you can use it to help find your perfect job, and how it might count against you.

A panel of informative speakers, including Emma Bramwell from Engage group, Simon Thorp from CF Appointments and Steve Ward from the Cloud Nine Recruitment Group discussed social media and potential employers.

Several interesting statistics were revealed, e.g. 50% of professional recruiters refer to social media profiles when recruiting, 94% have hired employees through social media.

Participants agreed that jobseekers need to be aware of their digital footprint.
After hearing from the panel, participants completed a task looking at four case studies, producing an information sheet, and suggesting how they would improve candidates' online visibility, making their social media profile fully searchable and attractive.
