Sandy* plans to start her own business
“Without Michelle’s help I would not be making the steps I am making. Her belief and positivity in me lifted me beyond anything I could have imagined.”
Sandy* had been away from the workplace for an extended period with stress and anxiety related issues. After recovering from being hospitalised with Septicaemia Sandy felt unable to work.
What Prospects did
Sandy met Michelle, a National Careers Service adviser working for Prospects through JobCentre Plus. Michelle’s friendly and welcoming approached helped Sandy overcome her mental health illness.
Working together Michelle guided Sandy through a range of tools including a CV builder, covering letter training and pack about self-employment and business plans. These tools helped Sandy create a business plan to set up her own holistic therapy business from home. Michelle encouraged Sandy to attend seminars with Brave, an organisation supporting small businesses. This support and Michelle’s approach helped Sandy in her own words to: “turn all of this around.”
Sandy now has a very different outlook, she is feeling very positive, has self-belief again and this has motivated her to start her own business.
Sandy comments: “Without Michelle’s help I would not be making the steps I am making, after all the trauma I have been through the thought of work frightened me, though now I feel that I am in charge of my direction and can earn money and be flexible to suit me and my health.”
Sandy continues: “The last four years were hell for me, and I met Michelle at just the right time, her belief and positive in me lifted me beyond anything I could have imagined.”
