SkillsCymru is a series of annual events that take place in Wales and attract up to 10,000 people each year. Young people can attend the events for free and get involved with interactive features, hands-on demonstrations and challenging activities. Both young people and their families can learn about the huge range of careers, apprenticeships and training opportunities available in Wales and catch a glimpse into what their future career pathway could look like.

NHS Wales exhibit at SkillsCymru every year. Sharon Jenkins, Careers Officer for NHS Wales, explains why: “SkillsCymru is a fantastic opportunity to inform and inspire the next generation of potential employees about NHS Wales and the roles we have to offer.

"I would definitely recommend exhibiting at SkillsCymru; if you're looking for future talent and want to encourage young people to work in your organisation this is an excellent opportunity to engage with a captive audience of over 10,000 students at a pivotal time in their career journey."

Daniel Roberts visited the NHS Wales stand at SkillsCymru and he’s completely changed his career path, Daniel had always wanted to work with the ambulance service but wasn’t too sure how to get his foot in the door. As a result of his visit to the event and speaking face-to-face with the staff on the stand, he‘s now training to become an Emergency Medical Dispatcher for the Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Daniel said: “I would definitely recommend visiting SkillsCymru, especially if you aren’t sure what career you want. The event definitely gave me that confidence boost that I needed to make the decision that a career in emergency care was for me."
