In Coventry and Warwickshire we provide careers information, advice and guidance for young people. This work is commissioned jointly by Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council
We work with all young people aged 16-18 in Coventry and Warwickshire to find out where they study or work when they leave school and college. We make sure young people most in need of specialist help can access our guidance and support to help them move into education, employment and training.
Young people in school years 11, 12 and 13 who are at risk of becoming, or are already, not in employment, education or training (NEET) get extra help to ensure they make the right choices.
Cllr Colin Hayfield, portfolio holder for education and learning at Warwickshire County Council said: "We are working very hard throughout the school lives of our young people to ensure they get the grounding they need when they leave school or college.
"It is particularly important that we have systems in place to ensure that some of our most vulnerable young people are supported to get the most out of training or educational opportunities. Prospects has an excellent track record of supporting vulnerable young people in other authorities so we look forward to similar results for Warwickshire."
Cllr David Kershaw, Cabinet Member for Education for Coventry City Council, said: “The advice and support young people receive between the ages 16 and19 is absolutely crucial.
“Being aware of the opportunities available, whether it be in education, employment or training, and being given the tools and the confidence to make the right decisions can have a huge impact on a young person’s life.
“I’m very pleased to be working with Prospects and our colleagues in Warwickshire to help deliver this vital service.”
