Supporting young people in Wakefield

Qualified Personal Advisers work with vulnerable young people in the district, to help them overcome any barriers to learning and/or work and achieve their potential

Having won the contract in April 2013, in Wakefield Prospects provides targeted impartial information, advice and guidance and the Youth Contract.


Targeted IAG Contract

Prospects provides support for vulnerable and NEET young people in Wakefield aged 13-19 (and up to 25 for young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities). This includes significant work in schools and partnership with key agencies. We have staff based with the Youth Offending Team, Leaving Care team, Looked After Children Team, Youth Service, Barnardo’s Young Families and with WESAIL, a Wakefield disability charity.

Youth Contract

Prospects delivers the devolved Youth Contract in Wakefield on behalf of the Council. Mentor support is offered by voluntary sector providers (12 in total) managed by Prospects.

Improve your Prospects

This programme is for 15-19 year olds (or up to 24 years for those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities) who are Not in Education Employment or Training (NEET) or are at risk of becoming NEET. This programme is provided in the Leeds City Region areas of Wakefield, Calderdale and York, Craven, Selby and Harrogate.
