Exam results day can be nerve-wracking. You may have brilliant results, or they may be a complete disaster, or more likely, somewhere between the two.
In Bradford and Keighley you can get help whether your results are better or worse than you anticipated. If you are thinking about changing the plans you made for your future or need support following your plans, a great place to get help is Prospects, the education, employment and training company, working for Bradford Council. Prospects runs Bradford Connexions offering free impartial advice and support to help you take your next step.
If you’ve reached 18 and just received A level results your options include finding an apprenticeship, work based learning opportunity, a job or going to university. You can talk to Bradford Connexions or your school or college to get help with Clearing and Adjustment if your results are different from your predicted grades. But not all students receiving their A level results want to go on to University, so talking to Connexions might help you look at alterative options.
Next week Bradford Connexions, in partnership with the Apprenticeship Hub, are running What Next? These free advice sessions are aimed at young people who have just got their exam results and don’t know what to do next. Being held on 20 August at Bradford’s Centenary Square and on 21 August at Airedale Centre, Keighley, you can go along for free and get one to one advice and guidance about all the different options that are open to you locally.
Whatever you want to do next Bradford Connexions will help you do what is best for you, if you’ve changed your mind about your plans we’ll work with you to make sure you understand all the options now open to you. If you never really had a plan we can help you consider the best route. We will help you plan your future whatever your results and support you to make the best decisions.
The ability to carry on and be adaptable when life doesn’t go your way is a quality that many employers and universities value in future recruits.
Liz Hemsley from Prospects said: “Young people around the country are now making decisions that will impact on the rest of their lives. Prospects wants to help those who are uncertain about their future to choose wisely. In Bradford our experts are here to provide support and impartial advice to help young people make the best decision for their future. Contact them today to see how they can help.”
Michael Jameson, Strategic Director of Children’s Services, said: "These events are great opportunities for young people to find out about which options are open to them. There will be a wide range of education providers at each event so young people get a good choice of options open to them.”
If you would like some advice, guidance or information but can’t visit What Next? you can meet a Prospects adviser based in the two Connexions centres.
