More than 2,000 young people visit Skills Cymru

Last week Skills Cymru took place in Llandudno. It was the first ever careers and skills event that Prospects, in partnership with Cazbah has organised in in Llandudno. The event is supported by the Welsh Government and Career Wales.

More than 350 young people and families attended the evening opening on Wednesday 8 October and a further 2,000 young people attended with their schools and colleges on Thursday.

All careers and skills events which are organised by Prospects Events give visitors the opportunity to take part in interactive, hands-on activities. At Skills Cymru, visitors tried their hand at butchery; learning to tie a joint in a timed challenge, make their own burgers and eat them. There was also the opportunity to find out more about working in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects with inspiring science experiments and challenges. Finally visitors came face to beak with owls that they could hold and pet, including a huge Eagle Owl with a six foot wing span.

Young people considering their career path also had the opportunity to speak to a variety of employers and those working in the vast array of industries represented at the event.

The second Skills Cymru event took place in Cardiff on 22 and 23 October.
